Originally from Birmingham, I moved to Kent in 1999 to take up a film degree at the University of Kent. On graduating I set up Close-Up Film, first as a print publication for Kent, and then as an online film magazine. After nine years in Kent, I have just moved back to my hometown, which is very different now to the one I left - very vibrant and happening. I am married with a 16-year-old daughter (who is studying media production), and have two labradors.
Work Details
I am the owner and editor of Close-Up Film, which has been online since 2002. I am also the co-founder of the '2 Days Later 48hr Horror Shorts Competition' and it's sister event the '2 Days Laughter 48hr Comedy Shorts Competition', in association with Beeping Bush Productions. As a freelance media professional I have been press officer to the Kent International Film Festival, programmer and publicist for the Summerscreen Film Festival for Young People, and I handled the regional press for Andrea Arnold's successul Oscar campaign for her short film 'Wasp'.
My favourite films
Soooo many - will come back to this one. I love horor, musicals, a good drama, and lots of World Cinema.
My favourite cinema
Cinema 3 at the University of Kent. When it was still Cinema 3. And when I worked there!
Besides film, I enjoy
Reading, art, music, being outdoors and socialising.
Useless fact about myself
I have a level 3 qualification in Holistic Herbalism.
